FUTURCENE was born in Latvia and founded by Ieva Kustova, Māris Vainovskis and Kristīne Bērziņa, on the belief that there is a real need for a more modern, curious and creative sustainability firm.

Ieva Kustova
Co-founder and partner
Ieva is an ESG expert with over 20 years of experience in international consultancies and industry, supporting diverse companies on their sustainability journeys, including waste management, manufacturing, financial services, transport, and energy sectors. Ieva is also a passionate educator on climate change impact, GHG emission calculation, ESG risk management, and more.
Māris Vainovskis
Co-founder and partner
Māris Vainovskis is a senior partner at Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns, leading the banking and financial law as well as corporate and commercial law practice groups, with over 20 years of experience. Māris is a true pioneer in the legal sustainability field in Latvia, being first-in-market to focus on integrating ESG approaches into corporate governance and strategy for both private and public companies.
Kristīne Bērziņa
Co-founder and partner
Kristīne’s nearly three decades of experience encompasses investing, deal-making, strategy, sustainable value creation, and commercial excellence. Her career spans roles as an investor, entrepreneur, consultant, and board member at prominent organizations including Livonia Partners, IBM, PwC, and a major telecom.
Elza Štrausa
Associate Partner
Elza is a sustainability professional with over 10 years of experience in sustainability project management, quantifying environmental impact, and promoting sustainable practices within organisations. Prior to her consulting experience, Elza has worked on Corporate Sustainability Assessment development and implementation for the S&P’s Dow Jones Sustainability Index and GRESB as well as led the Baltic Sea and Freshwater Programme at WWF Latvia.
Ieva Sīmane
Climate and Supply Chain
Transformation Lead
Ieva has extensive experience in supply chain management, honed through supply chain and technology roles with several international companies for almost a decade. She has also specialised in GHG accounting and supported Latvian companies in their initial decarbonisation efforts.
Kārlis Jēkabs Īvāns
Sustainable Finance Lead
Kārlis Jēkabs is a legal expert in ESG, banking and finance, and capital markets transactions, with a strong focus on sustainable finance. He provides comprehensive legal support to various financial market participants across these areas. His extensive experience spans commercial and corporate matters, making him a versatile and highly skilled legal professional.
Artūrs Āķis
Analyst
Artūrs is a sustainability consultant with a strong background in data analytics, finance, and AI-driven solutions. He advises clients on ESG reporting, investment analysis, and data strategy, with experience spanning both corporate and fund-level sustainability work. His expertise includes building analytical tools, automating workflows, and integrating financial and non-financial data for decision-making.
